This autumn, Cinemeet, Eye Filmmuseum, and the Bioscoop 10-Daagse are joining forces. Three partners, one mission: film is meant to be experienced together. Bioscoop 10-Daagse: the Netherlands’ biggest annual film moment
From September 18 through 27, 2026, the Bioscoop 10-Daagse takes place — the national cinema campaign spanning more than 150 cinemas and film theatres across the Netherlands. This year’s theme is “Film beleef je samen” (“Experience film together”), which happens to be exactly what Cinemeet is about.

Akira: the anime that changed everything
For this collaboration, we’re highlighting an absolute classic: Akira (1988) by director Katsuhiro Otomo, screening in a restored 4K version. Set in Neo-Tokyo in 2019 after a third world war, the film follows gang member Tetsuo after he collides with a secret government experiment. What follows is one of the most influential science-fiction and anime films ever made — Akira is widely cited as an inspiration for The Matrix and helped pave the way for anime’s global popularity, from Ghost in the Shell to Dragon Ball.
