Our story

The Story

"Cinema has the power to address the loneliness epidemic, to bring generations together, and to remind us that we don't have to experience life's beautiful moments alone."

Sylber Gashi, Founder of Cinemeet

Cinemeet was founded by Sylber, a self-proclaimed cinephile with an unwavering passion for cinematography and storytelling. Like many true film lovers, Sylber often finds themselves enjoying cinema alone, not by choice, but out of necessity. Friends and colleagues don't always share the same film taste, and that's okay. But what Sylber realized is that cinema shouldn't be a solitary experience.

Working within the healthcare industry, Sylber observed growing societal challenges: increasing pressure on primary healthcare systems, mounting isolation among people of all ages, and the growing need for meaningful human connection. In movie theaters across Europe, something became clear: we're not alone in our solitude. There are couples on dates, yes, but also seniors sitting by themselves, young professionals on weekends alone, families searching for shared experiences. Cinema lovers everywhere, searching for connection.

Sylber saw cinema as something powerful: a natural connector, a bridge between strangers who already share something meaningful. There are book clubs everywhere, but where are the communities around films? Where are the spaces where people can address their isolation and find their tribe through their shared passion for cinema?

Our mission

Bring together everyone who loves film and cinema, helping them build lasting friendships around their shared passion.

We believe cinema has the power to address the loneliness epidemic, to bring generations together, and to remind us that we don't have to experience life's beautiful moments alone. Because the best part about cinema? It's even better when you have someone to discuss it with afterward, someone who gets excited about the same shots, storylines, and cinematography that moves you.
