Rome, 1980. After her magnum opus is rejected by the publishing world, writer Goliarda commits a desperate act that lands her in Italy's largest female prison. Surrounded by a diverse group of women, including thieves and revolutionaries, she experiences a profound personal transformation. Following her release, she strikes up a deep connection with Roberta, a political activist.
