Suzhou River (re-release) in Amsterdam

Set against the dreamlike, neo-noir backdrop of turn-of-the-millennium Shanghai, the Suzhou River serves as a silent, mystical witness. After his release from prison, a small-time crook encounters a woman who bears an uncanny resemblance to his long-lost lover, pulling him into a haunting obsession with identity and the past. Lou Ye weaves a visually poetic narrative of memory and loss, capturing a city that buries its deepest secrets within the murky currents of the river.
